Thursday Update

From where we left off from the last update.

Tuesday night Oliver got some good solid times of sleep (not the best still, right).

Wednesday morning his ANC had gone up to 114. They changed his breathing treatment to the nebulizer every 4 hours and lowered his IV fluids since he's started to drink pretty "normal" on his own. He still hates to do the breathing treatment.

He took a nice much needed long nap late afternoon with few interruptions.
The RSV and Flu swab came back neg of course so people don't have to suit up when they come in side to check him.

Last night, I stayed. Thought it was going to be an easy night. Should have been right?  But his O2 levels kept going up and down when he fell asleep and which position he was in to 'alarm' so that went on and off until nearly 11 or so. The nurse finally turned those off the room monitor and left it for just the one they all see outside the room. Luckily, Oliver slept through all that.
But then at 11:30pm they came in to do his treatment and vitals, etc.
We got through that and back to sleep.  About 45 to an hour later the IV started to "alarm" (and its a super loud annoying make you jump out of bed if you heard it alarm) indicating it was stuck. He had rolled over, so I paused it (since I am familiar with all the buttons and things) fixed him, restarted it. Maybe 30 minutes went by and again. Did the same thing. Another 30, again. That time I called the nurse. She checked it, seemed fine, restart off we go.  20  minutes later, again. She's back and tries to flush the line from the side port, and its stuck. We determine the line is getting twisted on his broviac where the big end of the tube turns into a little end. She tapes it, we continue, then it happens again. Now I know what to look for, I untwist tape it more, it happens again.
By now its 315am. I call the nurse back, but she doesn't show until 4 when he has to do his IV antibiotics, then labs, then breathing treatment. While I give up on sleep and wait, it happens 2 more times. After all the stuff gets done at just about 445am, he goes back to sleep. I do as well and the next time I saw was 730 when I hear the morning nurse come in to check vitals.  Breathing treatment is next etc etc.

He is a wake by that point and we get his breakfast.

His ANC this morning went up slightly to 154.

As of now, he sounds great and they are going to take him off the treatments during night/sleeping hours. He did fine with the room air while sleep even though he'd dip, but when he isn't asleep he is stating at 100% or just right under.
They also lowered his IV fluid intake a bit more.
No fever spike still.

We are just waiting for his ANC to be at 500 before they will let him go home. Hopefully we see a nice rise tomorrow that maybe we can anticipate Saturday release?
I sure hope so!

Im not re-reading this so excuse my typos and grammar errors. I came home to rest while Dan stays with him and Miles is at my in-laws but I need to get back that way. Dan is staying the night there tonight. Dan and Miles still are sick, and so is Dan's mom some.  Most likely a result of Oliver's virus.
Hopefully I will avoid this myself and everyone can get better quick !

Until tomorrow sometime......
