Oliver was discharged today as his WBC rose to .7 from .4 the day prior and his ANC to 441. Although not at 500, he was continuously rising and this was a big jump that by this afternoon I am sure its above 500 anyway.
He still has a cough, but that is expected. We were given a nebulizer to do daily for the next week or as needed.
He is very happy to be home, as well is Miles.
He's lost a couple pounds due to his decreased appetite this week and just sitting in the hospital bed all day. Is a little shaky on his feet but will get that back as the days go. We have regressed with the potty. Because he was on IV fluids, he had to go often and he did not want to get out of bed (plus he is hooked up to a bunch of things, so that kind of made that hard) so he had a diaper on him the whole time. We kept talking about how its ok in the hospital but when we get home, he has to wear underpants like a big boy and go to the potty. Of course first time accident but luckily we had a #2 in the potty after putting him on to change him from the accident (and thank goodness because antibiotic #2 is ... well, let me spare you any details).
We are glad to be back today so he can have the entire weekend to recoup at home, and hopefully get back in the swing of things regarding potty before back to school.
We will check labs on Monday. He has to be 750 or higher in order for them to put him back on the oral chemo medications. However, once he does hit that, it will be at 1/2 the dose he was last on, which was only at 75%, so it'll be a super low dose for a few weeks while he regains his counts.
We only have 3 more months to go btw! The week of June 17th being the last spinal/IV chemo, and 5 days of steroids, then July 6th is the end date! It can't come any sooner!
Until Monday.
