Been there, done that

I have been telling people that I feel like we have done this before, the whole "there is something wrong with your child" thing.
First it was finding out that he had Down Syndrome, which was before he was born.  There was crying and coping and learning, etc, with lots of pamphlets with pictures of cute kids telling you it will all be ok.
Then there was his heart defect they discovered soon after he was born.  That involved lots of special care and meds and then open heart surgery at four months old.  At the time, I though that hospital stay was the worst week of my life.
Now this.  I think we have been able to emotionally deal with this much easier because we have already had similar experiences.  All these social workers and counselors approach us with folders full of pamphlets with cute kids on them telling us that it will all be ok.
