We have returned from Hawaii. Although it always seems like these vacations just fly by, it is still refreshing to be home as well.
While we were there, we did check counts twice.
It seems like his WBC and ANC are slowly heading downwards. On Tuesday his WBC was still at 1.0 with an ANC if 550.
We then checked on Thursday and his WBC went down to .8 with an ANC of 592.
Because of those numbers, we took extra precautions that week to keep him safe. He did get to go somewhat swimming on Sunday (the 2nd day out there) in the pool. We had placed an aqua guard over his broviac site and Dan held both his hands while he jumped and splashed his feet all over the place. We did not want him submerging his chest into the water. We then did a bath and dressing change right away. The next day we did go to the beach where he walked on the sand and just let the water splash up on his feet/legs from the waves coming in. He enjoyed that as well. He also got to play at the playground on the resort some, and just run around in the grassy areas. Of course both there and back we wiped down the area we sat in on the plane and what not.
Overall it was a great vacation for us all. One tiny incident on the airplane on the way back mid-flight - Oliver had taken Miles' hand and bit his thumb/finger on his right hand. He did it out of frustration as Miles kept patting him on the head. However, biting is just wrong of course no matter what. This sent Miles into a frenzy, to which then made Oliver go into a frenzy (he does not handle crying by others near him very well -sensitive to direct loud noises) - it took some time for Miles to recover and luckily someone on the plane (as we had packed ours in check in) had some baby tylenol to share as I am sure his hand was throbbing. His thumb is bruised and his finger still has the teeth indents. I guess it could have been worse. He's only done this two other times which unfortunately has been with his Cousin both times the last two times we visited with them. Something frustrates him and he doesn't know how to communicate directly. In this case Miles does not understand that Oliver batting his hands off his head as to also telling him to stop lead to it. But again, no matter what the situation, its not right to bite.
Its kind of ironic since we often read the yo gabba gabba book at bed time about NOT biting your friends.
I am not 100% sure Oliver understands completely what he did. We do talk about it and the owie he gave Miles. He does kiss him on his hand then and says he is sorry.
Oh, another interesting thing on our trip. The last full day we had a photographer come meet us to take family photos. It turned out he was Serbian too so we were chatting in Serbian.
I just got done uploading photos in flickr so please go take a look (in the process of adding titles and descriptions).
Oliver has a count check tomorrow, and we go to the Doctors in the afternoon for a check up. He seems to have a sore foot as he is limping a bit and not wanting walk all the time. He did have quite the work out the first few days with all the playing/running/ sand walking, etc. We hope that is just the case but at least we can have it looked at tomorrow.
Until then.
