An update from home

Things have been better at home, maybe more so for us though. Oliver is still being stationary on the couch and asking for food all time. But its been easier to control that at home. Plus we don't have constant stranger interruption.

Dan is dropping off Olivers labs today so we'll know his numbers this afternoon.
Tomorrow Oliver has a spinal and some chemo (they take out some fluid and replace it with some chemo to first check for cells in his spine, which he hasn't had, then put some chemo to make sure if there is anything that gets in there, it gets zapped).
He also has the bone marrow biopsy to check the % of leukemic cells. This gets sent out to a high res lab and if he is <.01% then he is in true remission and considered an early responder based on the blood smear from 2 weeks ago showing that as well.

Tomorrow is the last day he has this steroid as well. We are so excited. We can't wait to see the change in him that the steroids have affected. He has gained about 4lbs in a quick time, regressed with his muscle mass/tone in his legs, which is now giving him a hard time to walk, he needs support. He will get at home PT most likely in the mean time. Most of the weight he has gained is in his mid section, front belly, which throws his balance off that he is used to having before. We'll get back to his running/jumping self eventually.

Next week we see his Oncologist and he starts the next phase of his treatment called "Consolidation". We will get all the drug facts then as he starts some new things.

At home Oliver won't let me leave the couch next to him, and on the right side of him only. The only time I can leave the couch without him getting mad is if he is eating something so I have to plan my tasks around him eating (like he is eating crackers right now). He even gets mad when I have to go to the kitchen to get said food he wants to begin with. Then does not want it at first when I bring it back until up to minute of me sitting next to him again.

His hair has really really thinned out, especially on top. He gets up from sleeping and points out the 'hair mess' on his bed.

We are in the process of setting up a meal calendar as well. We'll get that link posted soon. Right now its not so needed so we'll have one to two days a week, but once baby #2 comes, then we'll really need some help with that in the beginning.

Thanks again everyone for all the lovely gifts and assistance provided (meals, things taken care of at home) and lovely emails/cards/notes you've all made and sent. It is much appreciated as always.

I'll post his counts once I have them later.
