Hello Everybody -
We did Oliver's lab draw this morning before school so we don't have to rush along with his exam check up either that is after school.
His HGB was surprisingly in the middle of normal for the first time in a year. Its been on the higher end if not above normal. We hope it was because of the apnea and that maybe its returning more normal now after surgery? Guess we will see if it keeps up like this.
Rest of his numbers:
Red Blood Count: 8.7
White Blood Count 4.28 with an ANC of 3038 (71%) - A bit on the higher side but I think he has the beginnings or lingering mild sniffles.
HGB 12.9
Platelets 188K
Oliver did have his surgery to remove his tonsils and adenoids on April 2nd. We were told he needed to stay one night, but since him being at hospital was more challenging than his recovery at that point, they let us leave that night (his surgery was first thing too so they had plenty of time to observe after). We had not gotten a look at the size of his adenoids prior (would not allow the scope in the nose of course!) so that was a wait and see if we need to remove them once we are in, and they did end up taking them out. The first week was hard and painful, but we kept him on meds though the mornings were the roughest having slept through and starting the meds over on a brutal sore throat.
He is doing great now, no complications from surgery and nothing unexpected while recovering.
We feel like its helping but its hard to say for sure. They will repeat a sleep study in around 6 months.
Thank the universe that Dan got this job when he did! We would have had to pay our out of pocket max deductible after that and for one person it is 6K!! Yikes! but you gotta do what you gotta do as we met that last year after the hernia repair surgery. He will have another procedure this year with his dental work as well. Now we have dental insurance too! oh boy! His mouth is riddled with cavities and we are going to have to put him under to fix his teeth and pull any and put the sealant on the perm. teeth that have surfaced thus far to protect them further. There is no way we'd make it through one visit let alone 4-6 for all that! He sees his dentist again later this month and I hope we get scheduled for the sedation work soon (it happens at kaiser as well). He lost his two front top teeth back in November. We have yet to see one of the new ones show up (we know its there though as seen in the X-ray).
Other than that everyones great. There is only 6 more weeks of school left! Oliver gets a week break then he starts summer season for 4 weeks. Luckily it is at his school this year which makes it easier all around. Ive signed Miles up at his preschool for some summer time themed weeks as well so he can stay in the loop with the idea before the regular scheduled pre-school starts up again in the fall. Grant will be turning 2 next month as well, although he is the size of a 3 year old (and then some).
Oliver's next check up is in July, marking our 2 years post treatment, and then we move onto every 3 months for check ups!
Have a great weekend!
