Happy New Year - check up

Happy New Year everyone!

Oliver had his Oncology check up this morning.  He had a slight temp (was 99 in the ear) which now explains this counts a bit.  His WBC is at 6.4 with an ANC of 4992 (78% which is high) -
Everything else was in normal limits with his HBG we've been watching at the end of range up high at 13.5

Everything else checked out fine during the physical exam.

We also drew a more sensitive test for celiacs as the one his Pedi first ordered was a bit off, but he now assured me its more than not likely, but this is just to double confirm that is the case so we don't have to keep doing further tests to get a more definitive answer.

We also did a sleep study this past month.  The study itself was horrible if you ask me. It took a while for him to be ok with getting all the leads and wires and things on, but the horrible part was the lack of sleep you get during the study making me question its results.  Didn't go to sleep until 10:30 as it took that long to get everything on, then it seemed like they were in the room hourly fixing/adjusting something that came off or wasn't reading right.. as well as to untangle him after he had gotten the wires wrapped around his neck! yikes! Then they wake you up to be done at 5am! I was in the room with him on a twin bed that squeaked at every move (it was of a mat material) - I don't recall every going to actual sleep with how often they came in to mess with something, though luckily maybe only 1/2 the time they disturbed Oliver awake.

The sleep study did show he does suffer from sleep apnea. During this study at its worse, his oxygen levels were at 85% during his dream sleep (most relaxed).  We saw an ENT to check on his tonsils and adenoids but nothing was unusual (though you can't look at the adenoids just by looking into the mouth so that wasn't checked) - However, that doesn't mean that removing them would not help either way.
We are going to put that option on hold until we try using the CPAP machine alone (google) - We have yet to get one because apparently you can't just go get one as we were told. I have a phone appointment  with Kaiser's sleep lab on Monday to discuss this. If we don't see significant improvement then we will also do the surgery over the summer (you are 'out sick' for 2 weeks so we don't want him to miss school for this). Most people end up doing both (surgery and still have to wear the CPAP machine during sleep) -

Will keep you posted at the next check up on everything above. It'll be the first week in March.

Everyone else is doing great. Grant had his 18 month check up showing us he is the size of a 3 year old. He now weighs more than Miles does by nearly 3 pounds.  Grant is also closing the height gap at just under 4" difference (it was 5" back in September and they both are growing)  Miles loves going to preschool and Grant wants to do everything his big brothers do (and eat). We had a great Holiday with family, saw and played in the snow, and just enjoyed some time at home and with friends.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday!
