Sorry for no updates for a while. Its been busy around these parts still.
Oliver turned 6 in August and we had a fun party out back here for him (and Miles who turned 2 just a few days prior). His broviac removal surgery took place on August 9th. He's pretty much healed up there and enjoying the new freedom of nightly bath time when he wants, outdoor sprinkler play, and just being able to rough around more without the worry.
Oliver started 1st grade last week. He's loving school, but so far not a fan of being dropped off yet. This year he is in full inclusion with an aide. He will have times he has to leave the class room to do special pulls outs for speech and OT, etc. They even do swimming in the spring! He has a few class mates again this year from last year and a whole bunch of new friends as well.
He had his first Oncology check up this past Friday post broviac removal. All checks out well. He had to endure his first needle prick to check his blood. Overall it went ok. He screamed like any other kid would, but once they were done, he was very proud of himself. Dan took him to Fentons after. He's going to have to go through this every month for the next year. I hope he gets used to it (the needle poke, not the icecream! :P )
His counts were as follows:
WBC at 3.2 (still below normal but that's to be expected for a while)
ANC at 1632 (51%)
RBC at 4.29, HGB at 12.2, and Platelets at 168K (all normal).
They also checked his chemistry, etc and all were within normal range.
Next appointment is at the end of this month so I will try to update shortly after.
Everyone is doing fine otherwise. Grant is getting big, Miles is growing, our house is taking on its new shape. I've been updating photos and videos so be sure to check those out in the links.
Until next month!
