Sorry, yesterday just got too busy to find the time to post, and by the time the end of the day came, I forgot.
As we expected, his counts went up due to the steroids.
His WBC is at 1.3 with an ANC of 1053 (81%)
RBC at 3.73
HGB at 12.5
and Platelets at 194K
This bout of steroided out Oliver seems better than last time. We've only had a few tragic meltdowns for whatever random or no reason. He's really wiped out however, falling asleep randomly on the couch, in the car only after he's been awake for just 2 hours, and way before his normal bedtime, etc. At least today is the last day of this drug. His moods will get better before his hunger problem does. Poor guy keeps asking for food even though he's full, and he doesn't have any clue why he is so hungry because he can't even figure out what he wants to eat.
"mommy, I wanna eat"... what would you like? I ask
His answer.... "Yes" (repeat until he gets upset because the Yes isn't getting him something to eat)
If I start naming things, he gets him more and more upset if I keep that up.
However, his happy times are overly happy, sometimes overly annoyingly happy. All day long I get "mommy?" and I answer "Yes" and nothing.. repeat 6-8 times.. this goes on all day long.
Occasionally I get a "HI" or an "I Love you" in the middle of it all.
Then he's always quick to change his mind. Asks for a drink, I start getting it out of the fridge and quickly he says no drink with a stern look and scowl, then as I put it back in, he changes his mind back.
The last two days he's needed lots of cuddling. He just wants to be held and hugged. I do take advantage of this quite a bit. Miles got jealous this morning and kept trying to move into the hug. It was rather cute.
We will check his counts again on Thursday next week.
