We had a count check today. Oliver's ANC is 1540 (up from 480 5 days ago) so he will have his treatment tomorrow. This is a spinal tap, some chemo back in the spine, then the 2 IV chemo drugs at the clinic afterwords. All his other counts are within normal range aside from his Red Blood Cells being just a smidgen under normal and his Total White Blood Count at 3.5 (up from 2.0 5 days ago, but normal range starts at 5).
He is getting more used to the baby being part of our family now. He tries to put the binky in the babies mouth as well. He is going to be a great big brother.
We have one more treatment of the two IV drugs in 10 days, then we anticipate to start the next round in Sept 6th (count dependent, but we don't think that will be an issue with how this rounds been going). Again, it is going to be a rough time during this next round, which is why its dubbed "Delayed Intensification" - Its like the initial round only more intense, just to make sure everything is once again covered. We'll be in and out of the hospital a few times likely. This round is 8 weeks long but there can be many delays with counts being too low (which is when we'll be in the hospital) so it could prolong the entire round up to 12 weeks. Once we get through that though.. things should get easier, even though it will last another year and a half.
Again, so far, they have seen nothing abnormal in his blood to date since they initially killed all the bad cells off. We just want it to stay that way.
We also set up the meal calendar again (see the link to the right in the links area) if you want to help out by bringing us a meal while we adjust to life with a newborn with everything else that is going on. Appreciate those of you who have signed up already, THANKS A MILLION!!
